The Vijay Sondhi Memorial Legal Writing Championship honors the enduring legacy of Late Shri Vijay K. Sondhi by nurturing excellence in legal research and drafting among young advocates and law students.

The Championship seeks to encourage analytical thinking, clarity of expression, and depth of legal reasoning - qualities that form the cornerstone of the legal profession.
Beyond recognizing academic excellence, the Championship offers financial support to deserving participants, fostering their growth and enabling Vijay’s commitment to mentorship and empowerment.

This initiative aspires to build a community of young legal minds committed to intellectual rigor, ethical practice, and the advancement of justice, in Vijay’s loving memory.

Rules of the Championship

Eligibility

  • Advocates with less than 5 years of experience 


  • 4th & 5th-year law students

Verification process

  • Practicing advocates must provide their enrollment details

  • Law students must attach a valid university-issued student ID card

Word Limit

  • Maximum 2,000 words

  • Include an synopsis under 200 words summarizing the scope and conclusions

Timelines

Topic announcement

The topic for each month shall be formally announced on the 15th day of every month through the official communication channels.

Submission

Participants are required to submit their articles on or before the 25th day of the respective month.

Declaration of results

The results of the Championship shall be declared on the 9th day of the succeeding month.

Font

Times New Roman, Size 14, 1.5 spacing

Citations

Only judgments from Supreme Court and High Courts, with proper citations and reference to relevant paragraphs. References can be in-text or in footnotes.


American Courtroom
Participants must ensure that their work is original. Plagiarism or improper use of sources will result in disqualification from the Championship.
