“We need representation from practising lawyers, and for every decision to uphold the dignity and welfare of the Bar.”
A Life Devoted to the Pursuit of Justice
Late Sh. Vijay Kumar Sondhi (1968–2022) began his legal journey in 1991 with an enduring commitment to justice and integrity. Over three decades, he appeared regularly before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi, and several judicial and quasi-judicial forums.

He built a distinguished career in litigation and arbitration, both domestic and international, with experience across jurisdictions including Singapore, the USA, the UK, and the Netherlands. A founding and equity partner of L&L Partners Litigation, he also served as Vice Chairman and Member of the Bar Council of Delhi, contributing significantly to the profession and its values.
He passed away on January 28, 2022, at the age of 53. His sudden loss was deeply felt by the legal fraternity, colleagues, friends, and the many young lawyers he mentored. His life and work remain an inspiration to those who knew him.
Acts of Courage
Beyond his professional achievements, Vijay’s character shone in moments of crisis.
During the Delhi High Court blast of 2011, he showed extraordinary courage and compassion, helping rescue lawyers and citizens caught in the tragedy.
He personally transported the injured to the hospital in his own car, prioritizing their urgent care. His commitment extended further as he visited government hospitals to donate blood for the victims. Before leaving the scene, he and his colleagues took care to cordon off the area, preserving crucial evidence to aid the investigation. These selfless actions reflect the deep humanity and unwavering resolve that defined his character.
“He didn’t wait for permission to act, he simply
did what was right.”
